United Way made a promise to change the odds, a promise to open all the doors for children and their families to have the same chance to succeed in school and in life. United Way wants "Kids to focus on their job to learn to be the best self that they can be so they are prepared for life." 2 out of 3 children are not proficient in math and 1 out of 2 children are not proficient in reading, writing and language skills; the whole world begins to be of limitations if you cannot read. We have also been told that 2 out of 3 children are not ready for kindergarten and 1 out of 2 children will not graduate high school.
